I have built pockyrocker from scratch, all by myself. I've received nothing in return. In fact, I've operated at a loss. So...

I refuse to put advertisements on pockyrocker. The payout would be so low, it wouldn't justify the time spent managing the ads. Never mind the hit to aesthetics, load times, and the time spent uploading to and maintaining the site itself.

I also don't want to continue investing my time and money in a project that has become a completely selfless endeavour. I don't read and haven't read any of these comics / manga. I think I got halfway through the first issue of JTHM before getting side tracked...

And while I don't expect to make a profit or anything -- as that's not what pockyrocker is about -- I do expect something to justify the time and money spent on it. Something a little more than numbers on a page. If anything I stand to gain by abandoning this project. I will have more time to do other things. I won't be programming. I won't be thinking about how I could improve blah and blah.

So, unless this site can somehow pay for itself, and/or make my time worthwhile by December it's dead in the water... Even if my good friend and co-administrator pays for the hosting, I won't be continuing development.

Now, I am open to suggestions, and would love some bloody feedback (for once). So, if you use pockyrocker, and/or respect the work I've put into it... LEAVE A COMMENT.

First, I think it's awesome that you refuse to put ads on your site. They're annoying and parasitic. Most people would give in and allow their site to be over run,but you have the determination to not let that happen. I admire that, even though saying so probably makes me sound stupid. I'd send in donations but my dad would kill me.
Second, I kind of disagree with one thing: I don't really see why anyone would read a book online if they already own the real thing. I mean, I spent a few hours looking for site where I could read JtHM. Why would I do that if I could just pull the real thing out of my closet and start reading right away? I don't know, everyone has their own way of doing things.

Well i agree. If anyone is getting a good time out of this is us. Can we show a thread of gratitude? Aparently not. I dont come here often but those who dont like this LAY OFF and GTFO! Its his site and hes doing u an F-ing favor so at least thank him. He doesnt need this as i said its a favor and tyis id quite the only place a ifound JTHM wich i seem to absolutely love and id hate to see it drown. Come on ppl be grateful u wont die for it.

@your conversation with spaceduck below.....it may not be easy to maintain but you can atleast put up with it till you have a decent amount of money to hire people to help you maintain it...im sure it isnt easy but its a small buisness, untill you start making a few bucks your not going to have it good for a while, putting up with bad times leads to something good...

Um... I have no clue what's going on in the last 10-15 post's, but I really like this site. I'm not going to say "you have to keep the site going for my own needs!" but I would rather it not end. I'm actually only 13, so I can only read some of my favorite stuff here cuz I'm not allowed to buy it. (ex. JtHM) Thanks for makin' the site in the first place. it must have been a ton of work, and with no profit, I can see why ending. I really enjoyed this site. I really wish I could help keep it going some how, but even if there was a place to donate, I still couldn't do that cuz i don't have any money anyway and I wouldn't be allowed to.

P.S. I always felt kinda bad reading all sorts of stuff on here without owning it. i wish I did own it.

well this site is great in the fact it leaves out advertisements, almost no other sites out there do that. and without turning to advertisements all i can say is to take donations, let the users sponsor the site!

I used to own all of Jhonen's works at my house, paid for on my own, until some LOVING relatives of mine thought of them as "clouding the spirit" of our household.. This is the only place I can find them now, and the only source of Jhonen's twisted goodness I can find despite having paid every penny to Slave Labor Comics in exchange for said works. I really appreciate all you've done here, and I really hope you can keep up the good work...

i think that putting avertesments would help with the upkeep of the site. nothing much anything to balance it out. i know you dont like the upkeep of avertesments but i really like your work. This sit lets me read comins that i left back at home when i went to collage and i dont want to see it go.

well, pockyrocker really was a found for me, i got to know some really great comics like "i feel sick" among others, the site itself is great, clean, no loading problems, really organized, and it's always been there when i needed to show something for some friends. Really great work mate.

Thank you a ton for the work you have done. I've been reading for a while now, and while I don't own all of what I have read, I do own some. As FanOfYourWork has already said, there's always so much more to pay for and worry about, so every now and then, when I get some spare money, I indulge and buy a chapter (chapter's that I've already read, mind you, on this site), as it's always a pleasure to read the chapters properly and physically than on the website.

I really appreciate all the work you have done for this site. I found it less than a year ago, but I've already spent countless days reading what you've put on here. I enjoy all of it, and really appreciate all the hard work you have done. After reading what FanOfYourWork says, I can agree. I don't own them. I don't own any of them. I'm sure, at a different given time, I could afford at least some of them, but there's always so much more you have to spend money on and pay for and worry about. The fact that you've put all that you have on this site, it just... it means a lot to me and many other people. I enjoy reading what you have to offer. And, most of all, appreciate the time you've put into this, all the work you've done, everything. I just want to say thank you for all of that. Thank you so much for everything you've offered to this site.

Well sir all I can say is the same thing just about everyone that I have seen has said. Thank your for all the time and effort you have put into this site, and sharing the joy of reading to whoever wants to enjoy it. I for one cannot honestly say that I the comics that I read on here. It's not that I don't have money, It's that I don't have the money to spend on books and things of that nature. There's always too much other &*$% to worry about and pay for. Thank you for keeping this site up as long as you have, Thank you for sharing this material to those who take joy in reading, and just THANK YOU SIR...For everything.

Yeah, mentioned below, I use this site 'cause every flippin volume of the manga I read is priced at like $10 minimum. I don't have the money to buy every volume I enjoy, but I can't complain when you're losing money on this endeavor. If/when the site closes, you'll still have entertained many people for hours, including myself. Thanks.

@Tony - "I'm just a poor boy". That's one of the problems. Most of the people using the site are in that boat. It's the demographic of sites like this. Really, part of the reason I've felt justified in uploading these comics is because low income families exist and reading can change your life. I like giving people opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have.

@dc - Thank you.

@Sarah - We're not going anywhere until December. And even then hosting might be renewed. I just won't be doing any more work/programming or uploads.

@Tayo - Thank you. But, like above, we're not closed.

@SpaceDuck - I foresee many problems with a system like that, both technological (it's not the easiest thing to maintain) and political.

dude you are the man to be able to do this the only site i found that has comics and what not that i want to read i wish i could help u but im outa work myself i do have 1 suggestion tho u could do members thing were ppl pay to read a full manga and or comic but id give them a taste before buying a membership like let them read the first chapter but to read the others they have to subscribe

Please don't close your site! D: I used to read on OneManga, but now they're taking their manga off because of the publisher's or whatever wanting it off the site. This is the easiest place for me to read manga! If I knew how, I'd donate... **sweatdrop**
