Priest (Update)
Razed @ 2010-02-08 21:12:56
Priest is a manhwa by Min-Woo Hyung. It fuses the western genre with horror, dark fantasy, and gun fu (close quarter gun fights). There is supposedly a movie in the works, however the plot has been said to have changed so much that it's not even relevant to the manhwa. But with few press releases it's mostly speculation; nothing is set in stone yet.
Spanning across many time periods including modern times, the wild west and the crusades Priest is about twelve fallen angels. The angels lead by archangel Temozarela rebel against God when God redirects his attention from them to the humans. They play God and are eventually imprisoned in the very statues they had the humans build. Centuries later Temozarela talks a Holy Knight into giving him his body to so he can extract revenge.

Battle Royale
Razed @ 2010-02-08 15:01:04
Battle Royale (
Batoru Rowaiaru) is a manga based on Koushun Takami's 1999 novel by the same name. The novel has also been adapted into a film. Both the manga and the film have sequels.
Battle Royale takes place in an alternate timeline; Japan, known as Republic of Greater East Asia, is a National Socialist (Nazi/fascist) state. And every year since 1947 an event called The Program is held. The Program, officially a military research project, is a means of terrorizing the population. It creates so much paranoia that organized uprisings are impossible. It involves the isolation of fifty third year junior high school classes. Each class is then required to fight to the death until one student remains. To assure the students fight to the death, they all have a tracking collar. If they try to escape or enter forbidden zones, the collar explodes. Should no student be killed in a twenty-four hour period, all the collars will simultaneously detonate.
